How do I switch Sandustry between fullscreen and windowed, or move it to my other monitor?

Two adjacent questions, both answered by one changelog entry that no menu surfaces.

Quick answer

Press Alt and Enter together. Update #2, published 19 August 2026 for v0.5.5, states that you can now use Alt+Enter to toggle between fullscreen and windowed mode, and that the game also remembers which monitor you last played on. That second sentence is the answer to the monitor question: put the game on the display you want once, and that is where it comes back. Both behaviours arrive in that build, and nothing published before it describes either.

Steps

  1. Update to v0.5.5 or later. Both behaviours are introduced in that build's changelog.
  2. Press Alt and Enter together to toggle. The developer publishes it as a toggle, so the same combination brings you back.
  3. To change monitor, move the game to the display you want while it is windowed, and play there. The developer states the game remembers which monitor you last played on.
  4. On macOS read Alt as the Option key. That is standard platform naming; the developer writes only the Windows form.

Requirements / limits

  • Each half of this answer is a single changelog sentence. No settings menu, in-game display option or command-line switch is published for either.
  • The monitor behaviour is stated as remembering where you last played. No source states what happens if that display is later disconnected.
  • Update #1 and the v0.5.3 hotfix contain nothing about windows, monitors or fullscreen. Both were read in full, which is why this page can name the build.
  • The macOS reading of Alt is labelled here as platform convention rather than presented as a developer statement.

Common mistakes

  • Looking for a fullscreen option in a settings menu. None is documented anywhere.
  • Expecting the toggle in a build older than v0.5.5.
  • Treating the monitor choice as a setting you pick from a list. It is a memory of where you last played.

Still unverified

  • Is there a borderless windowed mode? Not verifiedThe changelog names fullscreen and windowed only.
  • What happens if the remembered monitor is disconnected? Not verifiedNot addressed by any published source.
  • Is there a display settings menu at all?Not verifiedNone is documented. The absence is recorded rather than read as a denial.
