How do I reach the Anomaly?

The scan tags the coordinates for you, so read your own objective marker instead of copying a route.

Quick answer

There is no route to copy. Run the subsurface scan the game asks for before the next scale-up; the scan tags the coordinates and the Anomaly becomes an active objective, and the publisher guide states that objectives are pointed to by a yellow arrow in the minimap. Follow that marker down, retrieve the orb, and Tier 5 stops being blocked. Because the marker is placed in your own save, terrain and tools other players describe on the way down do not transfer.

Steps

  1. Keep playing the Florinol chain until the game asks for a subsurface scan before authorising the next scale-up.
  2. Start the scan and wait for it to finish; the scan reports an anomaly and tags its coordinates.
  3. Open the minimap and follow the yellow objective arrow, which the publisher guide documents as the pointer for any active objective.
  4. Travel down to the tagged location; the objective banner reads INVESTIGATE SIGNAL SOURCE until you arrive.
  5. Retrieve the orb at the site. The objective then becomes REACH FACTORY TIER 5, which requires condensing Florin into Florinol.

Requirements / limits

  • Tier 5 stays locked while the investigation is outstanding; the research panel states it is blocked by the Investigate Anomaly objective.
  • The coordinates are generated for your save, so no fixed depth, direction or distance can be published.
  • Update #1 fixed a softlock where Tier 5 stayed blocked even after the investigation, and repaired affected saves automatically. If your objective is complete but Tier 5 is still locked, update the game.
  • The Hotfix released on 14 August 2026 improved objective clarity, so older footage may show a less explicit objective panel than your build.
  • Steam's achievement list, written by the developer, contains Void Touched — investigate an anomaly, which confirms the investigation is a tracked objective in the shipped build and not an artefact of one recording.

Common mistakes

  • Copying another player's terrain description or tool choice instead of reading your own marker.
  • Treating the scan as optional. The objective does not appear until the scan runs.
  • Assuming Tier 5 unlocks the moment the orb is collected. Condensing Florin into Florinol is still required.
